The OC Stormwater Tools are being developed as a collaborative effort of Orange County Public Works, MS4 Permittees, and other organizations within the South Orange County Watershed Management Area. The primary purposes of the Inventory Module is to inventory water quality BMP assets, assess BMP conditions, and track maintenance activities.
The Trash Module was added to help MS4 Permittees track compliance with the California State Trash Regulations. This module is a calculation engine that brings together asset information with other GIS resources to provide real-time quantifications regarding progress. Jurisdiction Staff are able to manage land use layers for both priority and alternate land uses, assign capture attributes to inventoried BMPs, perform On-land Visual Trash Assessments (OVTAs), and view current progress reports all within the system. Progress can be viewed in multiple ways, including area-based (PLU acres), load-based (gallons per year), and OVTA (acreage of full capture equivalent).
The Modeling Module is currently under development. This module is a calculation engine to quantify pollutant load reduction and other benefits of BMPs. This module extends the Trash Module capability and provides a more full-fledged water balance and pollutant load model that synchs up with the assets in the system.
The Orange County Stormwater Tools website is designed to support stormwater management tracking and decision making for the County of Orange and Copermittee Cities. Click the map to see jurisdiction details.
